Sector Response Framework (SRF) Group Spotlight on FS-ISAC
What is the role of your group?
The Financial Services – Information Sharing and Analysis Centre (FS-ISAC) is a member-driven, not-for-profit organisation that advances cybersecurity and resilience across the global financial system. For more than 25 years, it has brought together the global financial ecosystem to address systemic threats and strengthen the resilience of the financial services sector.
When the sector faces a major incident, FS-ISAC provides impacted members with key intelligence, analysis, and mitigation guidance. FS-ISAC members have access to global messaging and intelligence, peer-to-peer information sharing, and insights from subject matter experts, all designed to build the sector’s collective defence. Depending on the Traffic Light Protocol, FS-ISAC may share information directly with the SRF, helping to strengthen the resilience of the UK financial sector. FS-ISAC’s EMEA Threat Intelligence Committee (ETIC) and the EMEA Business Resilience Committee (EBRC) are both represented in the SRF. The two committees, focused on threat intelligence and business resilience respectively, facilitate information sharing and the exchange of best practices across the FS-ISAC membership and wider partner community. In the event of an incident, both committees collect insights, intelligence, and best practices from participants so that, if possible, FS-ISAC can anonymise and share these recommendations with its membership.
Where does your group sit within the Sector Response Framework?
FS-ISAC works directly with the global financial sector, critical third parties, and other public-private partners to exchange information during both periods of heightened systemic risk and normal operating conditions. Both the ETIC and the EBRC interact directly with other SRF groups, such as the Business Operational Continuity Committee (BOCC: click here for spotlight) and the Financial Sector Cyber Collaboration Centre (FSCCC: click here for spotlight).
Who makes up the membership of your group?
FS-ISAC’s community includes more than 5,000 financial member firms representing over $100 trillion in assets across 75 countries, alongside private-sector partners and key authorities worldwide. For more information on becoming a member, visit FS-ISAC’s website.
What triggers the invocation of your group?
FS-ISAC’s operations are not dependent on the activation of another group in the SRF.
It operates independently under a follow-the-sun model, providing support during both periods of heightened systemic risk and normal operating conditions.
How does the group operate in practice?
FS-ISAC delivers its mission through three core services:
- Threat Intelligence: Deep insights and context, reducing uncertainty and driving collective and relevant situational awareness.
- Response & Resilience: A unified platform to support the sector’s response to systemic threats and resilience challenges.
- Proactive Security: Collaborative defense of the global financial system through trusted relationships, best practices, and collective risk identification and mitigation.
Together, these services reinforce one another and support the collective defence of the global financial system.
Recent highlights, lessons learned and useful links
In response to developments in AI frontier models’ and their increasingly advanced vulnerability discovery and chaining capabilities, FS-ISAC developed various resources with its membership that can be leveraged by the sector to understand and prepare for AI-enabled vulnerability discovery, including our Updated Sector Risk Advisory, which outlines 12 recommendations to help the organisations prepare for and respond to AI-enabled vulnerability discovery. Additional resources are available to all FS-ISAC members on IntelX.
In addition to resources on AI frontier models, FS-ISAC regularly publishes intelligence reports, including but not limited to supply chain risks, geopolitical shifts, fraud, and emerging technologies (e.g., AI & PQC).
